The Governorship candidate of the Social Democratic party (SDP) in Cross River State, Mr Effiom Okokon has given assurance that if elected governor in the 2023 general election he will reduce taxes from companies and put more money on the people.
Mr. Okokon, who gave the assurance while addressing journalists at the Ernest Etim Bassey Press Center on Thursday, said government should not use taxes as major source of revenue generation.
According to him, the tax burden in the state has scared many companies to leave the state.
He said: ‘We need new money to come to the state through new investment and friendly tax policies,we will look at the tax regime and reduce company taxes for people to have value for their money”
The SDP governorship candidate explained that his party, the SDP is a movement that is greater than a political party that is out to restore Cross River State.
He said: “This is a movement, we have people across board, with the objective of revamping our tourism, education, rural development, social Infrastructure and security”
Also speaking the SDP Deputy Governorship candidate, Comrade Dan Obo, said as “young people, we think of the best for Cross River State, to restore our future, the future of our education and the future of our people”.
