BY RICHARD ABU, Nasarawa –
A governorship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for the 2023 general elections for Nasarawa State, Dr. David Ombugadu has pledged to run an inclusive government if elected as governor of the state come 2023.
Dr. Ombugadu disclosed this yesterday while answering questions from journalists at his Akwanga residence.
He maintained that his emergence as the consensus candidate was as a result of the collective decision of all the stakeholders like Rabaran Maku and Gen. Agbanzu (Rtd) and other representatives of all the ethnic tribes in the state.
The former lawmaker promised that if voted into office as governor, he will unite all the various tribes and give them sense of hope and engage both stakeholders, youth and women in the running of the state affairs.
He said his choice was based on the track record of achievements recorded when he served two times as a member of the Federal House of Representatives, where he demonstrated high level capacity by executing people oriented projects like the sinking of 150 boreholes, building of hospitals and offering of scholarship to 18000 students of Nasarawa State origin in different tertiary institutions across the country.
He revealed that the choice of Hon. Yahaya Ohinoyi as his running mate was based on fairness, justice and equity adding that both of them have been tested and trusted.
Ombugadu further explained that critical stakeholders of the party nominated three persons from the Nasarawa West zone and Hon. Yahaya, a former legislation from the state was selected from the Igbira tribe to give all the ethnic groups in the state a sense of belonging.
The governorship contender decried the high level rigging that characterised the 2019 general elections in the state where over 500,000 card readers out of 600,000 failed which gave room for massive rigging of the election.
He boasted that such a situation will not happen again and commended President Muhamadu Buhari for signing the amended Electoral Bill into law which provide the use of card readers and direct transmission of election results from the polling units to the INEC headquarters.
He called on the good people of Nasarawa State to rise up and vote for candidates of their choice that will bring rapid development to the state.
