The Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) has ruled out supporting any political coalition or candidate outside the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The decision is widely seen as a response to the Nyesom Wike-led Rainbow Coalition, which has attracted public attention in recent weeks.
Chairman of the Forum and Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, announced the position after a meeting of APC governors held in Abuja on Monday night.
According to the governors, they will not participate in any political arrangement that could weaken President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid or affect APC candidates contesting governorship, National Assembly and State Assembly elections.
The forum said its members remain fully committed to the APC and would work together to ensure the party records victories in future elections.
The governors also stressed that no coalition outside the APC would receive their support or endorsement.
They added that although the party has a national campaign structure, APC governors would take the lead in mobilising support for President Tinubu in their respective states.
The forum said the decision reflects its commitment to party unity and loyalty as preparations for the 2027 elections gather momentum.
Hope Uzodimma reaffirmed the governors’ resolve to stand behind the APC and President Tinubu, insisting that the party remains focused on retaining power in the next general elections.
