A 40-foot container truck on Tuesday crashed into six other vehicles at Kara Bridge, inward OPIC, along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway after reportedly developing a mechanical fault while in motion.
The impact left seven vehicles involved in the accident, causing temporary traffic disruption along the busy highway before emergency responders cleared the scene.
The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) later confirmed that no life was lost and no one sustained any injury in the crash.
LASEMA Permanent Secretary, Dr. Olufemi Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu, disclosed this in a statement issued on Tuesday.
According to him, the truck, which had no registration number, developed a mechanical fault, lost control and rammed into six other vehicles.
He said LASEMA’s LRT Tiger Squad, stationed at C3, responded promptly to the incident alongside officers of the Nigeria Police Force.
The Permanent Secretary explained that the emergency responders quickly secured the area, removed the damaged vehicles from the road and restored free flow of traffic to prevent a secondary accident.
Dr. Oke-Osanyintolu commended the emergency teams for their swift intervention, noting that their prompt response helped prevent casualties and ensured the road was cleared without delay.
He also advised motorists, especially drivers of articulated vehicles, to keep their vehicles in good condition, comply with roadworthiness requirements and drive with caution on major highways.
