Late Veteran Nollywood actor, Olu Jacob
2027 presidential hopeful, Peter Obi, has paid a heartfelt tribute to veteran Nollywood actor Olu Jacobs following the announcement of his death.
In a message shared on his X account on Wednesday, Obi described the late actor as a symbol of excellence whose contributions to the Nigerian and British film industries would be remembered for generations.
He said he received the news of Olu Jacobs’ passing with sadness after it was announced by the actor’s family on September 16, 2026.
According to Obi, the late actor lived a life marked by talent, discipline, professionalism and dedication to his craft.
He said Olu Jacobs’ remarkable career reflected “the excellence of the Nigerian spirit” and inspired many within and outside the creative industry.
Obi also said the actor’s death should remind everyone that life is short and that people should make meaningful contributions to society.
“His passing is once again a reminder to all of us that our time here is limited. Whatever responsibility we are entrusted with, and whatever area we are called to contribute to society, we must give it our very best and ensure that society benefits from our genius, talent and competence,” Obi said.
He added that “This was what Olu Jacobs was renowned for. He lived a life that demonstrated the power of talent, discipline, professionalism and dedication to one’s craft.”
The former Anambra State governor extended his condolences to the late actor’s family, friends, colleagues and the entire Nigerian creative community.
He prayed that God would grant them the strength to bear the loss and concluded, “May the good Lord grant our father, Olu Jacobs, and all the faithful departed eternal rest. Amen.”
