Former Sokoto State Governor and chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Aminu Tambuwal, has congratulated the party on the composition of its Presidential Campaign Council, describing the structure as a reflection of inclusiveness, experience and national unity.
Tambuwal, in a statement on the development, commended the ADC leadership under Distinguished Senator David Mark, GCON, for assembling a campaign team made up of experienced politicians, public servants and grassroots mobilisers ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He specifically congratulated Chief John Odigie Oyegun, who was appointed Chairman of the Campaign Advisory Board; Alhaji Kashim Ibrahim-Imam, Chairman of the National Campaign Council; Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, Deputy Chairman; and Senator Austin Akobundu, Director-General and Campaign Manager, alongside other members of the campaign structure.
According to Tambuwal, the appointments represent a combination of diverse experiences in governance, politics, policy formulation, administration and community engagement from different parts of Nigeria.
He noted that those chosen to serve on the council should see their roles as a responsibility to the nation rather than personal recognition.
“Those who have been called upon to serve must recognise that the responsibility before us goes beyond individual appointments or personal recognition. It is a call to service at an important moment in our nation’s democratic journey,” Tambuwal said.
The former governor stressed the need for fairness, inclusion and national balance as key principles that must guide the party’s activities as it prepares for the elections.
“As I have consistently maintained, fairness, inclusion and national balance must remain central to our politics. Our actions as a party must demonstrate the values and principles we seek to bring to the governance of our country,” he added.
Tambuwal said the ADC faces a major task of convincing Nigerians with a clear vision and credible alternative to address the country’s challenges.
He urged party members and supporters to work together, strengthen the party’s structures and take its message to Nigerians across different regions and communities.
“The task ahead is enormous. The ADC is determined to present Nigerians with a credible alternative and a clear pathway towards addressing the challenges confronting our nation,” he stated.
The former Sokoto governor reaffirmed his commitment to the party’s mission, expressing confidence that the ADC presidential ticket of Atiku Abubakar and Rotimi Amaechi would provide the leadership needed to tackle Nigeria’s challenges.
“I remain fully committed to our party and our collective effort to rescue Nigeria and build a country that works for all its citizens. I am confident that the Atiku/Amaechi ticket will rescue Nigeria and provide the leadership required to address the challenges confronting our nation,” Tambuwal said.
He wished members of the Campaign Council success, urging them to approach the assignment with unity, wisdom and dedication.
