Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has announced plans to engage Nigerians at home and abroad in a global digital town hall focused on protecting votes and preparing for the 2027 general election.
Obi made the announcement in a post shared on his verified X account on Friday, saying many Nigerians have continued to ask how votes will be protected and how victory can be achieved in the next election.
According to him, the interactive session, titled “A New Nigeria Global Digital Townhall,” will provide an opportunity to address those concerns and hear directly from Nigerians.
He wrote: “My fellow Nigerians at home and abroad, over the past months, wherever I go and in your many messages, two questions keep coming up: How will our votes be protected in 2027? And how will we win?”
Describing the questions as important, Obi said: “These are fair questions, and you deserve direct answers.”
He added: “This Sunday, I will answer you directly, and more importantly, listen to you. I will join you for A New Nigeria Global Digital Townhall. We will speak plainly about protecting every vote and the path to victory.”
The former Anambra State governor stressed that the meeting would not be limited to speeches, saying the opinions of Nigerians would help shape the movement’s next steps.
According to him, “But this is not only about speaking to you. It is about listening to you. I want to hear your concerns, your insights and your strategies. This movement has always been built by you, and your ideas will shape what we do next.”
Obi announced that the online town hall will hold on Sunday, October 4, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. WAT/GMT, 2:00 p.m. EST and 12:00 p.m. MST, adding that participation will be by registration through vote4obi.com.
He concluded his message with a renewed call for national unity and hope, saying: “Let us continue this conversation together. A New Nigeria is POSSIBLE.”
The planned town hall comes as political activities ahead of the 2027 general election continue to gather momentum, with major political figures stepping up consultations and engagement with supporters. Obi has consistently maintained that electoral transparency, active citizen participation and the protection of every lawful vote are essential to strengthening Nigeria’s democracy and ensuring credible elections.
