Nasarawa State Government has commenced the payment of N500 million gratuity to the first batch of 500 retirees in the state.
Abdullahi Sani – Osaze, Director General, Nasarawa State Pensions Bureau, disclosed this in an interview with newsmen during the electronic payment of gratuity to retirees, on Friday, in Lafia.
According to Sani-Osaze, following the release of N500 million by Gov. Abdullahi Sule, for the settlement of gratuities, the Bureau had commenced the payment exercise in batches.
He commended the governor for priotising retirees’ welfare in the state, while appealing to the retirees for continuous support and cooperation with the administration.
“We are starting the payment exercise today (Friday). We are paying in batches until we finish. The first batch is up to 500 retirees,” he said.
In his reaction, Alhaji Ibrahim Usman, Secretary, National Union of Pensioners, Nasarawa State Chapter, expressed appreciation to the governor for keeping to his promise.
Usman, while pledging the union’s continuous support to the administration, however, appealed to the state government to sustain the payments. (NAN)
