A four bedroom apartment in Anguwan Mahaukata in Bauchi Metropolis, where over 1,000 ammunition were discovered has been destroyed.
NATIONAL ACCORD reliably gathered that the densely populated area is known for harboring hooligans popularly called ‘Sara-Suka’.
The order for the demolition was given by the Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, on Wednesday.
The governor, who was represented by the Chief of staff, Dr. Ladan Salihu during the demolition exercise, said a sack concealed with over 1,000 ammunitions, Military and Immigration uniforms were discovered in one of the rooms in the house.
He said that the arms and ammunitions were supposed to be kept by the army or Police in their armory not in a house in a densely populated area.
He said: “The ammunitions discovered if exploded, could wipe out the people living in the area. This is a threat to peace in the state. I call on people of the area to remain calm as government is doing everything possible to protect them”.
Governor Mohammed said the security agencies discovered the ammunitions after they received information from some informants.
He said he ordered the total demolition of the House to serve as a deterrent to whoever wants to hoard arms or habbour criminals in his residence.

According to him, the police are already investigating the matter pointing out that the bold steps taken by the Government after discovery is to demolish the House As part of its effort to protect lives and properties of its citizens.
In an interview, the representative of the Governor said he would not elaborate on the issue because “it is under investigation but the owner of the house and some people are being questioned by the security agencies.”
The Police Public Relations Officer, Bauchi State Command, Ahmed Wakil, a Superintendent of Police, confirmed the discovery of the weapons.
He however, said he didn’t have full details as of the time of this report promising to make the information available to the press as soon as possible.
