A Kaduna Chief Magistrates’ Court, on Wednesday, ordered that three men be remanded in a correctional centre for alleged unlawful possession of dangerous weapons.
The police charged Basiru Abubakar, 25, Alhassan Abdulahi, 20, and Sadiq Saminu, 18, with conspiracy and illegal possession of dangerous weapons.
The Magistrate, Hajara Dauda, did not take the plea of Abubakar, Abdullahi and Saminu for want in jurisdiction.
Dauda ordered the police to return the case file to the Kaduna State Director of Public Prosecutions for legal advice.
She adjourned the case until July 28 for mention.
Earlier, the prosecution counsel, Insp Sunday Baba, told the court that the suspects were arrested at Kawo, Kaduna, by operatives of FIB- IRT Kaduna State on June 25.
Baba said that the suspects were arrested with one locally fabricated automatic pistol, one dane gun, eight cutlasses, knives and daggers.
The prosecutor stated that when they were arrested, they confessed that hey were on their way to Zaria, to meet their gang leader, one Garba, now at large for an ”operation”.
The offence, he said, contravened the provisions of sections 6(b), 2(1) and 3 of the robbery and firearms (special provision) Act RII LFN, 2004
