The 14.5 kilometers Ijebu-Ode/Epe express road when fully completed would further open up Ogun State for more investments and create more job opportunities for the people, Governor Dapo Abiodun has said.
Governor Abiodun stated while on an inspection tour of the on-going road construction, according to a release on Thursday by the State’s Ministry of Information & Strategy.
He hinted that his administration has begun to receive applications from intending investors, willing to set up their business ventures around the express road.
“This road will further open up the axis for industrial purposes because of its proximity to the Lekki area, where you have the Lekki Free-Trade Zone and Dangote Refinery. This is another industrial corridor and we’ve began to receive a lot of expression of interest and application for lands for industrial use, industrial estates, as well as trailer parks. We are so excited about it, because that immediately provides employment opportunities for our people,” he said.
He noted that the express road which was flagged-off in February this year, and expected to be completed early next year, might not be visible until the second half of next year, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, saying he had instructed that palliatives be done on the roads, to ease movement, in order to minimise undue hardship on the people.
Governor Abiodun who also disclosed that government had embarked on construction of roads across the State, assured of his administration’s efforts to urgently fix deplorable roads in some parts of the State, just as he called for patience from the people, saying his administration would not abandon any of its projects.
On the condition of the Ota-Akute, Isasi-Ojodu-Akute/Journalist Estate roads, the Governor said these roads were in the second phase of projects which his administration would commence and complete.
In a remark, the Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Ade Akinsanya, said work was in progress on the Ijebu-Ode/Epe Express Road, despite being in the rainy season.
