The Governorship Candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Anambra, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, has said the party needs to win the Nov. 6 governorship election to survive.
Soludo made the remarks on Tuesday during a campaign at Akpo Community in Aguata Local Government Area, ahead of the state governorship election.
Soludo, a former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), used the event to formally flag off his campaign tour.
He said: “We cannot afford to lose this election, because if we lose, it will be the end of APGA.
“So, we need to work together and make sure we win this election to survive, and carry on the legacy of the party.
“This is why I have come to you, to appeal to our traditional rulers, community leaders, President-Generals, women and youths to vote for APGA.
“God has destined it that APGA is the party that can take Anambra to an enviable height. Do not waste your votes by voting other parties. Let us get there together and make Anambra proud.”
Soludo promised to run an all-inclusive government and ensure security of lives and property, if elected as governor.
“We shall run an all-inclusive and partnership government. We have an agenda for the youths, for the women and for persons with disabilities.
“We shall take education to the next level by taking our students to the digital age. Anambra will become a digital hub which will attract investors and create employment for the people.
“We will improve power supply, construct roads, ensure security of lives and property and make the state an industrial hub, to boost business. I urge you to vote APGA, so that we can achieve this dream together,” he said.
Also, Dr Vincent Okpala, the state Commissioner for Health and the Convener of Akpo campaign tour, urged the party supporters to come out en masse on Nov. 6 to vote for the party’s governorship candidate.
“We are solidly behind APGA’s candidate, because Gov. Willie Obiano-led administration has recorded progress as regards security, health, education road network, economic and infrastructure development.
“We believe that with Soludo, there will be continuity. He is the most popular candidate among all the candidates because of his outstanding achievements and records.
“We are here in Akpo to drum more support for you. We shall mobilise ourselves and ensure victory for APGA comes Nov. 6,” Okpala said.
Igwe Cyprian Okpala of Akpo Town gave his royal blessing and prayed for a peaceful election in the state. (NAN)
