Two staff of the Ministry of Finance, have been dismissed by the Bauchi State Civil Service Commission for financial misappropriation and forgery.
In a press release made available to journalists in the state on Friday, the Commission’s Information Officer, Saleh Umar, said those sacked are: the Chief Clerical Officer of the Ministry, Nasiru Sama’ila and his Assistant, Auwal Jibrin.
He said that they were found guilty of forging the documents of a deceased former staff of the Ministry (Jibrin Zalanga), which enabled them to divert his N330,000 pointing out that the act contravenes section 327 of the Public Service Rules of Bauchi State.
According to him, they were arrested by the police and arraigned before the state Chief Magistrate Court in order for them to face the full wrath of the law.
“The Bauchi State Civil Service Commission has dismissed Nasiru Sama’ila Chief Clerical Officer and Auwal Jibrin Assistant Chief Clerical Officer of the Ministry of Finance for acts of serious mis-conduct of forgery.
“The Commission took the decision during its 18th plenary Session on 15th August, 2023 at the conference Hall of the Commission.
“During the deliberation on disciplinary cases the two Officers were found guilty of forging documents that enabled them to divert the sum of N332,000 belonging to former and deceased staff (Jibrin Adamu Zalanga) of the Ministry.
“The act contravenes section 327 of the Public Service Rules and they admitted to have committed the crime in their responses to the queries issued to them individually by the ministry.
“They were earlier arrested by the Police and arraigned before the State Chief Magistrate Court to get the wrath of the law,” he said.
Recall that less than two weeks ago, the Commission sacked one Ibrahim Garba attached to the State Pension Board for a similar offense.
Meanwhile, he informed that the Commission during the plenary session promoted 73 Officers and approved the conversion of 11 Officers during the routine activities in the plenary session.
Umar said that the Ministry of Religious Affairs recorded the highest number of personnels with 59 of them promoted to various grades.
He said that the Chairman of the Commission Alh. Abubakar Usman, who presided over the sitting with full members in attendance said that the issues of financial disciplinary cases have become worrisome to the Commission.
The Information Officer said that the Commission’s Chairman therefore enjoined the workers in the State to be grateful and fear God in the discharge of their official duties and further urged them to be mindful of the financial instructions in their day to day activities.
