The Bauchi State Civil Service Commission has announced its impressive achievements in personnel management, revealing a remarkable record of employment, promotions, conversions, and disciplinary actions between May 2019 and May 2024.
The Commission’s Chairman, Abubakar Usman, stated while presenting the Commission’s scorecard at a press briefing on Tuesday in Bauchi.
Mr. Usman said no fewer than 2,266 officers were employed between 2019 and 2020, while 3,155 officers were promoted during the same period. Additionally, 321 officers were converted, and 278 officers were upgraded. The Commission also processed 196 deployments, 14 reinstatements, and 35 contract re-engagements.
He said Commission took disciplinary actions against erring officers, including 24 dismissals, 13 terminations, and 2 suspensions. The efforts have been recognized with awards within and outside the state, including the “Best Civil Service Commission in the North-East” award.
Usman attributed the achievements to the support of the Bauchi State Government, particularly the Executive Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir.
He added that the Governor’s prompt approvals and lifting of the embargo on employment enabled the Commission to achieve its goals.
He said the Commission also received financial interventions for infrastructure development, including the construction of a motorized borehole, renovation of the Commission’s building, and expansion of the Commission’s land area. Office equipment and furniture were also procured to enhance operations, including two desktop computers, a mega printer, public address system, still camera, and solar power equipment.
The Commission’s chairman noted that the achievements have complemented the state government’s efforts in blocking leakages in salary administration, resulting in a more efficient and effective civil service.
