No fewer than five persons were, on Saturday night, killed in a fatal crash that occurred at Gwarangah village on the Bar – Bogoro road in Bauchi State.
Five other people also sustained varying degrees of injuries in the accident.
The accident occurred at Bar Arewa village of the LGA when the victims and the injured were returning from the Zaar cultural festival known as Lemb Zaar which was held at Tafawa Balewa town.
The Chairman, Bogoro Local Government Area, Iliya Habila, disclosed this in a statement while condoling with the families of the deceased persons.
The statement was signed by the Information Officer of the Council, Gobna James, on behalf of the Council Chairman and made available to journalists in Bauchi.
According to him, Habila also visited the five injured persons who currently receiving treatment at the General Hospital in Bogoro.
He stated that the chairman while speaking at the condolence visit in Gwarangah on Sunday, said he received the news of the deaths of the five young persons with rude shock.
“The Executive Chairman expressed sadness over the incident which robbed the community of the young men and urged the families to consider it as their destiny.
“The deceased were able bodied young men who were contributing their quota to the development of the area and state in general,” the Information Officer said.
He informed that Habila described death as a necessity for all mortals and urged Christians to be ready as it would come at any time.
According to James: “In a response, the hamlet head of Gwarangah Gungu, Chief Dadi Nabasu, expressed sadness over the loss, describing it as a setback to the community.
“Chief Nabasu thanked the Chairman for the condolence visit to comfort the entire Gwarangah community and the families in particular.
“Parents and relatives of the victims of the crash said they were shocked by the receipt of the sad news, however, they expressed belief that it was the will of God.”
