The Cross River State Commissioner for Education, Dr. Godwin Amanke, has said the British Canadian University in Obudu Local government Area, when fully operational, will reduce medical tourism.
Dr. Amanke stated this during a ministerial press briefing at the Ministry of Information and Orientation in Calabar, the state capital.
He said the British Canadian University is over 70 percent completed in Obudu with the Teachers Training College Biase Local Government Area.
According to the commissioner for education, the state government has spent N9.3billion on the project.
He said his ministry has also embarked on complete digitalization of the entire ministry to enable it have adequate data.
Also Speaking, the Commissioner for Rural Transformation, Edem Effiom Okokon, stated that over 39.3km of rural roads have been constructed in Obudu and Obanliku LGAs of the state.
Mr. Okokon also stated that over 19.2km of rural roads have been constructed in the rural communities including boreholes in Obudu, Obanliku, Bekwara LGAs of the state.
He said his ministry has provided intervention support in Yala,Ogoja, Obanliku, Bekwara Local Government Council of Cross River State.
