As part of its Coperate Social Responsibility programmes, BUA Cement Company has supported 12 schools in Sokoto with furniture and teaching aids, granted scholarship to 30 students, and also trained 50 women in beautification and design.
Presenting ceetificates to the 50 beneficiaries of the beautification and design skill in an event held at the BUA Cement Quaters, within Sokoto metropolis, thr Managing Director of the company, Engineer Yusuf Haliru Binji reiterated that, they are committed to sustaining better relationship with their host communities, state and even neighbouring states of Zamfara and Kebbi.
This according to Engr Binji was behind their decision to always extend BUA’s gestures to both Kebbi and Zamfara States.
While emphasising that the furniture, teaching and learning aids provided by BUA was to support Sokoto State Government emergency on education, Engr Binji noted that sound educarion is very pivotal to human development.
Speaking to newsmen in an interview after the programme, the Head of Adminstration and Corporate Affairs, Mr Sada Sulieman said BUA as a responsible organization always have interest of the people at heart.
According to him, the 30 students under BUA scholarship are studying engineering and other science related courses.
Mr. Sada, who further said that BUA cement would continue to grant scholarship to students from Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara every year, added that they have their benchmark of excellence that must be followed.
Commending BUA Cement Company for its steadfastness in assisting host communities, the chairman of Wamakko LG Council, Bello Haliru Gwiwa, said they cannot thank BUA enough.
Gwiwa recalled with nostalgia how BUA recently donates essential drugs to hospitals in the LGA, donated school, Mosque and, burial ground to Sabon Bado area as well as provided cement worth millions of naira to host communities to be used in renovating public places of interest.
Responding to the gesture, one of the beneficiaries of the beautificarion and design skill, who simply gave her name as Rakiya, said BUA has given them the needed empowerment to be self reliant.
