The Minister of State for Industry, Trade and Investment, Ambassador Maryam Katagum, has been discharged on Tuesday from the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital Bauchi.
NATIONAL ACCORD had reported that the Minister who was in Bauchi to launch an empowerment programme at the NAADI Office, Sani Mallam Shopping plaza located at the Ahmadu Bello Way, was said to have suddenly collapsed as she tried to deliver her speech.
She was immediately rushed by officials to the Trauma center of the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH) for medical attention.
The Minister, who hails from Katagum LGS, has been in the state since Saturday and had many personal and official engagements throughout the weekend, before the event on Monday in which she slumped.
When our correspondent visited the Trauma Center of the ATBUTH on Tuesday, one of the security men at the gate disclosed that the Minister was moved from the Trauma Center to the Amenity Ward of the hospital where she spent the night receiving medical care.
At the Amenity Ward, Department of Family Medicine where Katagum was admitted, a nurse told him that the Minister had been discharged.
The nurse who refused to give her name said: “The Minister was brought in here yesterday for medical care. She spent the night here and has been discharged after she has recuperated.
“She suffered from exhaustion and after receiving some treatment since yesterday, she was discharged about 9:00am because she was stable. She has been taken back to Abuja.”
