The police on Tuesday arraigned a businessman, Lohnan Nicholas, in an Upper Area Court at Mpape in Abuja for allegedly stealing property worth N464,000.
The police charged Nicholas, 27, of Gishiri community in the FCT with three counts of trespass, causing mischief and theft.
The Judge, Mr Mohammed Marafa, also ordered Nicholas to produce one surety, who should be on Grade Level 7 in the civil service.
He adjourned the case until Dec. 21 for hearing.
Earlier, the Prosecution Counsel, Mr Stanley Nwaforaku, told the court that the defendant broke into the house of one Paulina Oseghale, while she was at work.
The prosecutor said that the defendant removed the zinc of Oseghale’s apartment, entered through the bathroom roof and carted away a television set, decoder, jewellery, N200,000 and a canvas, all valued at N464,500.
The matter, he said, was reported at Mpape Police Station by Oseghale.
The offence, Nwaforaku added contravened the provisions of Sections 348, 327 and 288 of the Penal Code.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges. (NAN)
