The Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), Cross River State Chapter has endorsed the governorship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Professor Sandy Onor.
The PFN Chairman, Lawrence Ekwok, while addressing newsmen at the Assembly of God Church, Calabar, said a strategy committee made of twelve members with ten of them drawn from the highest policy making organ of the fellowship has been constituted.
Ekwok said the strategy committee has met five times and interviewed the governorship candidates of the All Progressive Congress (APC), People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and People’s Redemption Party (PRP).
He said at the end of voting, eleven members out of the twelve members voted with each member giving reasons for the vote that the PFN Cross River State should support the candidate of the PDP, Sandy Onor.
“Determined to get the imputes of our leaders at the Local government Council, we called for three meetings at the different Senatorial district where all our chapter officials within those district gathered including local government coordinators where asked to vote through secret ballots.
A total of 429 leaders at the Local Government Council voted and the PDP candidate polled 260 votes, APC candidate scored 114 votes, PRP candidate had 47 votes, while 8 votes were voided
” It is important to notes that this decision is devoid of any selfish interest or any form of influence, rather it is taken in the overall interest of Cross River State”
