From SADIQ ABUBAKAR, Maiduguri –
Governor Babagama Umara Zulum of Borno state has received the Chief of Air Staff, Sadiq Baba Abubakar who was on condolence visit to the state over the death of the the governor’s Chief of Staff, Dr. Babagana Wakil.
The late Wakil, who passed away after a brief illness at University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital (UMTH), Wednesday morning, had been Cos to governor Zulum in the past 13 moths.
Speaking during the condolence visit, Abubakar said: “It’s a huge lost not sure only to you but for the government and people of Borno, and to all of us that have been opportune to meet the Chief of Staff.
” He is always there, always ready, always working. We are not even sure of what to say, but we believe that Allah gives life, and Allah takes life. May his soul rest in.”
Similarly, the State Security Chiefs led by the GOC 7 Division Nigerian Army, Maimalari Cantonment Maiduguri, Brigadier-General Abdul K. Ibrahim, were also at the Government House to condole the governor and people of Borno over death of the former CoS.
General Ibrahim said although he knew that all living things must taste death, they received the sad news of the demise of Wakil with great shock.
Also, Senators from Borno State at the National Assembly, led by the Senator representing Borno Central Senatorial District and immediate past Governor of Borno State, Senator Kashim Shettima, Thursday paid a condolence visit to Governor Zulum in Maiduguri.
The Chief Medical Director of the UMTH, Prof. Rumingo, led UMTH management staff on a condolence visit to the governor at the Government House Maiduguri, as well as the Forum of Special Advisers to the Governor led, by Sheikh Modu Mustapha, were equally a the Government House for condolence.
The members of the Correspondents Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Borno State chapter, led by the Chairman, Haruna Dayda Biu, were among many sympathizers that paid condolence visit to Governor Zulum at the Government House.
The third day funeral prayers of the lat COS was held today Friday at his parental home in Shehuri Ward of Maiduguri metropolis early in the morning with the governor, state Executive Council Members, Special Advisers,State Assembly members and other top government functionaries in attendance.
