China and Russia will become the driving force in the restoration of the world economy, Chinese Ambassador in Moscow, Zhang Hanhui, said on Wednesday.
Zhang said this during a meeting of the Russian-Chinese business council.
According to the diplomat, relations between Beijing and Moscow are an example of relations between major powers and an example of one of the most important bilateral relations in the world.
He added that in 2020, Chinese-Russian relations faced unprecedented changes in centuries against the backdrop of the COVID-19 pandemic and withstood this test, maintaining a high level and stability of development.
“Seeking to achieve the $200 billion bilateral trade goal and setting an example of good neighbour policy between the major powers.
“China and Russia will be driving forces in the global economic recovery,’’ Zhang said.
He added that both countries were inseparable friendly neighbours and partners, with high political trust, mutually reinforcing economic advantages and that their bilateral cooperation had no end and no limits.
According to him, the countries supported each other during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.
He added that the foundations of trade and economic cooperation between Beijing and Moscow show stability in a crisis and trade turnover was still high, in spite of the decline.
In December, Zhang said that China expected trade and economic cooperation with Russia to grow fast in 2021.
He added that China and Russia had great prospects for cooperation on energy, agriculture, e-commerce, digital economy and fighting the pandemics.
The diplomat also said that China was ready to increase import from Russia and work with Moscow on increasing trade and investment flow in both directions. (Sputnik/NAN)
