Mr Moses Babatunde of Anointing Church of Christ, Ilorin, has called on government at all levels to provide free feeding for all Nigerian children.
Babatunde made the appeal in Ilorin on Friday during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
According to him, children from age 1 to 3 deserves free feeding from the government, as a way to support struggling parents and stem malnutrition.
“The government should support parents during this harsh economic condition and feed their children.
“Government can supply baby foods every month to the nursing mothers to feed their children.
“The economy is in a bad shape at the moment. This is the time for government to support new born babies and little children with foods.
“Every child from ages 1 to 3 should benefit as a way of support. Set up a feeding team and move round to support every registered child every end of the month,” he said.
Besides, the cleric advised government to invest on children and prevent them from dying of hunger and malnutrition.
He also called on NGOs and private individuals to support children and save them from malnutrition.
“The programme should not be left alone for government. NGOs and philantropic individuals can also support children feeding programmes by supplying food and empowerment,” he said. (NAN)
