Mr. Tayo Bamgbose-Martins, Lagos State Commissioner for Special Duties and Intergovernmental Relations, on Tuesday, commended some members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) for donating items to contain the spread of COVID-19 in the state.
The corps members, serving in Lagos State, presented items such as gloves, hand wash, disinfectants, face masks and hand sanitizers to the commissioner.
Receiving the items on behalf of the state government, Bamgbose-Martins said that the corps members deserved a lot of commendations and encouragement to do more.
“This is a great development and impressive step in the fight against the coronavirus disease.
“We would also require the corps members to do some advocacy on behalf of the government in educating the public on hygiene.
“They should also do more public enlightenment on our behalf by talking to the public on maintaining social distancing and avoiding large gathering,” Bamgbose-Martins said.
The NYSC State Coordinator, Mr. Eddy Megwa, who spoke, said that some of the corps members were determined to contribute their quota in the fight against the disease.
He said that the corps members had been receiving their salaries as and when due, and debunked claims that a corps member in Ondo State had tested positive for coronavirus. (NAN)
