The Chairman, Council of Registered Builders of Nigeria (CORBON), Mr Samson Ameh Opaluwah on Wednesday flagged off the monitoring and evaluation component of N-Power Batch C1 trainees in Sokoto State.
Addressing the trainees, Ameh Opaluwah said the Batch C1 consists of the contraction/trade aspect of the N-Power as conceived by the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development.
Mr. Opaluwah noted that the Federal Government’s programme is a well thought out initiative, which has positively changed many lives in the country.
He said CORBON would be assisting the youths to acquire skills capable of making them self reliant, as having skilled youths is pivotal to national development.
He said: “The large turn out of trainees we have seen here today is a testament that the N-Power has help unemployed youths to acquire skills capable of making them self reliant.
“‘And this goes to explain that the programme has changed lives of many unemployed youths. It also goes to show that, we are ready to take over the construction industry of our country if we diligently follow this programme””.
While noting that, the era of neglecting Nigerian artisans has come and gone, the CORBON chairman said the essence of flagging off the monitoring and evaluation exercise became very necessary to help curb cases of incessant cases of building collapse in Nigeria.
He said: “You are agents of turning around Nigeria for good, as building collapse is not a good news for Nigeria.
“”We want to assist the economy and our nation by ensuring that we evaluates and monitor building projects to see that it complies with agreed specifications so as not to put lives in danger”.
