The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has registered 464 new cases of Coronavirus (COVID-19), bringing the total number of infections in the country to156,963.
As at Wednesday (3rd, March 2021), the public health agency also recorded sixteen (16) new COVID-19-related deaths, raising the total fatalities in Nigeria to 1,939 deaths.
The NCDC made this know in an update via its official Twitter handle @NCDCgov.
It added that with the new cases, the total number of confirmed infections since the outbreak of the pandemic in the country had risen to 156,963 confirmed cases, out of which 135,812 had been discharged.
The public health agency noted that the 464 new infections were reported in 22 states, including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The 464 new cases are reported from 22 states- Lagos (131), Kaduna (69), Akwa Ibom (33), Imo (31), Katsina (30), Kano (26), Ondo (23), Yobe (20), FCT (18), Ogun (13), Rivers (12), Kebbi (11), Ekiti (9), Osun (6), Oyo (6), Borno (5), Gombe (5), Plateau (5), Edo (4), Abia (3), Delta (3) and Zamfara (1)
The NCDC stated that 418 people have been discharged from the various isolation centres in the last 24 hours.
The health agency noted that those discharged on Monday included 229 community recoveries in Lagos State, 144 in Imo State and 45 in Akwa Ibom State, managed in line with guidelines.
It also noted that 3 previously confirmed cases in Nasarawa State omitted from the cumulative report
The health agency also said that a multi-sector national Emergency Operations Centre (EOC), activated at Level 3, is coordinating response activities nationwide.
The NCDC said that there were now 19,212 active cases across the country in the last 24 hours. It has also carried out a sample test on 1,544,008 persons since the outbreak of the pandemic last year.
