The Vicar of All Saints’ Church, Anglican Communion, Festac Town, Lagos State, Ven. Michael Olorundare, has called on Christians to live Christ-like to justify Jesus Christ’s death and resurrection.
Olorundare made the call on Sunday in his Easter sermon entitled: ‘The Significance of Christ’s Resurrection for Christians’.
He described a Christ-like life as one that prioritised godliness, exhibited compassion, grew in faith, and reflected fear of God.
He said that the above attributes were exhibited by Jesus Christ.
According to him, the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ redeemed humanity from sin, bondage, death, sickness, eternal destruction and other forms of evil.
He said: “Jesus Christ defeated death on the cross of Calvary and brought victory to mankind.
“What a selfless sacrifice! We are victorious through the great price He paid as captured in John 3:16.
“The resurrection of Jesus Christ which we are commemorating today, Easter Sunday, is reminding us, believers, of the need to live transformed lives empowered by the Holy Spirit.”
The cleric said that Christians must take advantage of Christ’s resurrection to pursue a just society.
“He saved us to save others. His resurrection confirms that God is real, true and existing.
“HE is the hope of our salvation because through this, he has reconciled us with God and restored our lost hope in the garden of Eden,” he said.
The cleric said that Christianity would have been in vain without the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. (NAN)
