PATRICK ABANG, Calabar –
Organized labour in Cross River State on Tuesday commenced its industrial action as economic activities in the Calabar, the state’s capital was grounded.
Courts, ministries, departments and agencies in Cross River State are under lock and key as members of Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) kick off an indefinite industrial action.
The strike action was as a result of the failure of the state government to meet the demands of the organized labour.
Part of the 14 points demand put forth by the organized labour, include – non-implementation of full 27.5% teachers enhancement allowance, non-implementation of promotions, remittance of deductions, full implementation of minimum wage among others.
