The Federal Government says it had awarded the contract of 25 Mega Watts of power generation at the Kano Free Trade Zone, geared towards attracting investors for the development of the economy.
The Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Otumba Adebayo stated this after he inspected the Kano Free Trade Zone at Ungogo LGA of Kano state.
The Minister maintained that with the recent development on the provision of the 25MW many companies have started indicating interest to set up industries at the Kano Free Trade zone.
Mr. Adebayo said Federal Government was working assiduously in providing infrastructure, aimed at attracting investors to establish their factories at the zone.
He said the administration of President Mohammad Buhari was working towards making Nigeria industrial hub of Africa by investing on infrastructure.
Earlier, the Managing Director Nigeria Export Processing Zone Authority, NEPZA Professor Adesoji Adesugba said the Authority would work tirelessly to upgrade the activities of Free Trade Zones across the country.
During the inspection, the Minister who was accompanied by the Minister of State for Industry, Trade and Investment, Ambassador Mariam Katagun and other senior officials inspected some of the factories operating at the premises of the zones.
