Chairman of Cross River Selection Committee of the Federal Ministry of Labour, Employments and Productivity, Bar Maria Ukpayang has inaugurated a 20 member selection Committee for the State.
Inaugurating the members Wednesday in Calabar, Ukpayang urged them to see their duties as a national call to serve the Federal Government.
She disclosed that the Committee was actually inaugurated on the 29th of June 2020 by the Minister of State Labour and Productivity Festus Keyamo in Abuja and charged with the mandate to collate would be beneficiaries of poor households from across the 18 Local Government Ares of Cross River State.
It would be recalled that the Federal Government has proposed to create about 774,000 jobs across the federation bringing it to a total of 1000 jobs per local government from across the 774 local government areas in the federation.
Mrs. Ukpanyang informed members of the committee that herself, her Vice Chairman Prince Martin Bisong and the Secretary, Gabriel Udam were inaugurated at Abuja.
She further disclosed that the programme is the ruling party’s pet project targeted at grassroots especially the poor households irrespective of party’s affiliation.
Vice Chairman, Prince Martin Bisong and the Secretary Gabriel Udam both commended the federal government and especially, the minister for his vision towards alleviating poverty when eventually this programme kicks off.
It was disclosed that the Committee member s were chosen to represent the traditional rulers, the youths market woman, Christian Association of Nigeria CAN and the Muslim community in the state.
