Fire has gutted the Gamboru market around the Custom area in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital.
This followed another fire outbreak early morning at the Biu Market in Southern Borno.
The fire outbreak which occured at about 11am on Saturday morning destroyed goods and properties worth millions of naira.
The incident attracted the attention of the voters, who were in queues to exercise their franchise for the governorship and state assembly elections.
An eyewitnesses at the market and motor park told our Maiduguri correspondent on telephone that: “We just heard that the market is on fire and started seeing black long smoke on the sky.”
“The situation created tension and everybody started running towards the market to help knowing full well that it was election day and people will not be at the market neither motor park to travel”
Meanwhile, the fire outbreak has been brought under control through the timely intervention of fire fighters.
