A former Secretary of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Alhaji Sani Toro, former Assistant Coach of the Nigeria Super Eagles, Garba Yila and one of their friends, Alhaji Isa Jah, who were kidnapped last Saturday, have been released by their captors.
NATIONAL ACCORD had reported that Toro, Yila and their friend were kidnapped around Akwanga in Nasarawa State after attending the wedding of the son of a former NFF President, Aminu Maigari which was held in Abuja.
They left Abuja at about 5.00pm and were returning to Bauchi, their base, when they were kidnapped at about 7.30pm.
The kidnappers had demanded the sum of N150 million before releasing them.
However, our correspondent learnt from a family source that they were released by the kidnappers at 5.00am on Tuesday.
The source said: “Yes, it’s true. They were released this morning after the morning prayers at about 5.00am. And they are all in good health condition.”
Meanwhile, as at the time of filing this report, it was not immediately known if any ransom was paid before they secured their release or not.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Bauchi State Command, Ahmed Wakil, a Superintendent of Police, who confirmed the development, simply said: “They were released this morning. That’s all I can confirm to you.”
