
Late Chief Jola Ogunlusi

A former National Secretary of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Chief Jola Ogunlusi, has died, his family announced on Saturday in Lagos.
In a statement signed by Mr Gbenga Aruleba, a family representative, Ogunlusi passed away in the early hours of Saturday at the age of 91, following a brief illness.
Aruleba said ‘Papa Jola,’ as he was fondly called, lived a fulfilled life devoted to serving both humanity and God.
“From his days as a journalist in the 1970s to becoming NUJ National Secretary, he exemplified dedication and fairness,” he said.
Aruleba noted Ogunlusi’s strong commitment to equity, justice, and sincerity in all his duties.
He described him as kind, loving, and caring toward family, colleagues, acquaintances, and the wider public.
Ogunlusi once served as President of the Festac Town Residents Association, contributing to the creation of Amuwo Odofin Local Council Development Area.
He was also Chairman of the Community Development Council, Amuwo Odofin chapter, where he championed local progress.
The family representative said burial plans are underway and requested prayers, condolences, and support during this difficult period.
