Gov. Mohammed condemns removal of genitals of minor, vows to get justicate Governor, Bala Mohammed, has condemned the removal of the private part of a six-year old child in Jamaare Local Government Area of the state for alleged ritual purposes.
The governor who described the act as sad and unacceptable vowed that the victim must get justice.
NATIONAL ACCORD had reported that the Bauchi State Police Command, in a statement by it’s Spokesman, Ahmed Wakil, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, disclosed that a 20-year old man had been arrested for allegedly cutting off the private part of a six-year old child for suspected ritual purposes.
Wakil said that on 30th December, 2020 at about 7.20pm one Hafsatu Wada of zango area of Jama’are LGA, reported at the Jama’are Police Station that her niece aged six of the same address was found crying in a pool of her blood and was rushed to the hospital where a Medical Doctor confirmed that her private part had been cut off with a sharp object.
The Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs in the state, Abdulrazaq Zaki, who represented the governor during a sympathy visit to the family of the victim in Jama’are said that the governor sympathized with the parents of the six-year old girl saying that “the incident was unacceptable and unfortunate.”
He added that he (the governor) promised that the state government will do everything possible to ensure that the victim gets justice.
“His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Bauchi state, Senator Bala Mohammed is deeply touched with this negative act and we are here on his behalf to sympathize with the parents and to assure them that, government will take care of her treatment.
“The administration of Governor Bala Mohammed will take full care of the treatment because our Governor was so much concerned about the welfare and wellbeing of less privileged people,” he said.
According to him, the government will take a sound measure against the perpetrators of the act to serve as deterrent to others and called on youth to desist from such negative act for the betterment of the society.
The State Commissioner of Women Affairs and Child Development, Hajara Gidado who delivered the message of the state’s First Lady, Hajiya Aisha Bala Mohammed during the visit, said the first lady has already constituted a high powered judicial panel to serve as a legal body for the victim. The State Commissioner for Health, Dr Aliyu Maigoro said the victim required plastic surgery for her quick recovery and survival.
The family of the victim expressed gratitude to the administration of Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed for quick intervention on the matter.
While in Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital where the victim is currently receiving medical treatment, Zaki who led members of the governor’s delegation made a donation of cash of N1 million pledging to take full of care of her treatment until her full recovery.
Dr Mahmud Magashi who briefed the delegation on the current condition of the victim, said a team of Doctors are working round the clock to ensure that the victim gets the required medical treatment.
