The Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Zulum on Thursday in Abuja, visited newly deployed Head of European Union’s Cooperation unit in Nigeria, Mrs Cecile Tassin-Pelzer.
Governor Zulum, during his visit to the EU house, made a strong appeal for the involvement of local contractors in implementation of intervention projects in Borno.
The Governor made a case for additional developmental projects in the state, even as he commended the EU for their tremendous support.
Professor Zulum also raised concerns on the need for accountability in executing various developmental projects by partners and INGOs.
The governor congratulated and welcomed the new EU head to Nigeria, pledging full cooperation.
“Since I was a commissioner, i have been having good working relationship with the EU. I am fundamentally here to congratulate you and welcome you to Nigeria”, he said.
Gov. Zulum commended the immediate past head of Cooperation, Mr. Kurt Cornelis for his outstanding working relationship.

Responding, Mrs Tassin-Pelzer assured the governor of a good working relationship with the Borno State Government.
She also assured the Governor, that Nigeria is still considered as priority country for humanitarian and development programs.
Mrs Tassin-Pelzer had served for three years in Senegal before deployment to Nigeria.
