The Transition Monitoring Group (TMG) has appealed to eligible voters in Cross River State to come out en mass and vote for the candidates of their choice during the Saturday’s Governorship and State Assembly elections.
The state coordinator of TMG, Ofem Ofem, made the appeal during an awareness campaign on Thursday in Calabar.
Mr. Ofem said the campaign was as a result of the poor turn out of registered voters in the state during the presidential and National Assembly elections held on 25th February, 2023.
He said: “We are not giving up this action. It is an opportunity to step up the tempo and increase voter’s participation in the electoral process.
The awareness campaign which started at the Millennium Park saw the TMG working round the major market and street in Calabar South and Municipal Council.
The group displayed various banners with the inscription: “If you feel that your vote is too small to make a difference, try and sleep with a mosquito”, “Say no to fake news”, “Follow the vote and let your vote count”, “Our leaders reflect our choice, vote wisely” etc.
