The Cross River State House Of Assembly Committee on Youths And Sports Development has expressed total neglect and abandonment by the former administration leading to outright decay in sports.
The House committee, which was led by Hon. Mercy Akpama made the remarks when the House Committee on Sports visited the U.J.Esuene Stadium on a fact finding mission.
According to her: “We have gone round and there is so much decay in the sports infrastructure in the state Nobody in Cross River State will be happy with the level of decay in the stadium.
She urged the staff to put everything in pictorial documentary and forward same to the Committee.
Mrs Akpama started that the governor want development of the sports infrastructure in the state.
Other members of the House Committee include: Hon. Omang Omang, Hon. Standly Nsemo and Hon. Victor Nsa.
The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Youths and Sport, Ogboka Thomas said: “now that the House Committee have come to see things for themselves. We are happy to see that good things will begin to come.
“We will be happy to include those things that were not captured in the budget”.
Earlier, the Cross River State Director of Sports, Mr Moses Agbor Ita, said “he is so happy because that is what we have been expecting”.
