Borno Police Command has rescued a woman who was abducted by four kidnappers along Misko Road Minna, Niger State on Saturday last week and handed the victim over to her husband and relations in Maiduguri at the police headquarters.
The Borno Commissioner of Police, Abdul.Umar disclosed this on Thursday while briefing journalists at the police command headquarters.
“The victim was rescued through intelligence report. And after interrogation, her husband, Usman Bappa Mohammed was contacted by the police in Niger state to come to Maiduguri Police Headquarters to identify and received his missing wife, who gave her full name as Hajiya Habiba; Usman Bappa”. He said.
Her husband; is currently the All Progressives Congress (APC) Council Chairman in Magama LGA of the Niger State.
While handing over the rescued housewife, the Police Commissioner disclosed that the woman was brought to the police headquarters by officials of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) and Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN) who she contacted on Wednesday to board vehicle to Minna, Niger State capital.
According to him, the handing over was to re-join her with her husband and her family members, who came all the way from Minna to convey her home.
CP Abdul said the case has been officially transfered to Niger State Police Headquarters in Minna, for further investigation on the matter and necessary action.
In an interview with journalists, Habuba while standing beside her husband told newsmen that on that fateful day around 5 am when she was preparing breakfast for her children, 3 men and a woman came to her matrimonial home and asked after her husband by his nick name, Bappa Misko, and she replied them that he was not at home.
According to her, “the lady among them excused her outside the house with the intention to talk to her. Where she demand for a ransom to secure her freedom, which was paid”.
But Habiba said they later invited her outside the house and she found herself in Maiduguri yesterday around 5 pm before she could be able to remember that her husband’s friend works with a carpet company by name Ajus and then asked after him from the people around.
“But they told her that the company she mentioned has no branch office in Maiduguri. So, she immediately waved a Keke NAPEP to drop her at Minna motor park in Maiduguri town where she was intercepted by the NURTW and RTEAN who alerted the police and she was brought here , the police headquarters.
In his narration, the husband of the victim, who was shedding tears, said he was excited to have seen the mother of his children to be physically git and healthy after been abducted for the past four days.
He also disclosed that a large amount of ransom was paid to the abductors, who are still at large.
The couple appreciated the police, NURTW and NARTO for their timely intervention and rescue mission.
