Managing Director of Hydroelectric Power Producing Areas Development Commission (HYPADEC), Alh. Abubakar Yelwa has lamented on the late passage of HYPADEC Bill saying that it is the reason why the people of the areas are still suffering.
Speaking in Ilorin the Kwara State capital during a one day stakeholders meeting and needs assessment, Yelwa said the problems of the people living in the areas will soon be a thing of the past as the commission is poised to make life more meaningful for them.
While speaking about Kwara State in particular which also hosts a hydroelectric power dam, the Managing Director said, the commission has contacted the National Directorate of Employment on arrangement for the training 490 youths of the areas on basic skills in order to be gainfully employed.
One of the stakeholders who represented Pategi area of the state, Mr. JJ Kolo thanked the commission for their concerns and urged to hasten up for the sake of the people.
While speaking during the occasion, the Chairman of the occasion and the Governor of Kwara State, Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq, who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Saaba Jubril, thanked the commission for their concern about Kwara State.
He also urged them to not leave any affected area in the state out of their plans.
