The Executive Chairman of Karu Local Government Council, Hon. James Thomas has thrown his weight behind the decision of the Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule to close all public and private schools over security concerns.
Hon. Thomas stated this today in his office while reacting to the circular issued by the state government through the Commissioner for Education, Hajiya Fati Jimeta Sabo.directing all schools in the state to immediately close down and allow students go back to their homes.
The chairman said the decision is highly commendable considering the reports suggesting likely security threats in border communities of the Federal Capitol Territory (FCT) such as Gitatain Karu LGA and Umaisha in Toto LGA.
Hon. Thomas further stated that the local government under his watch has already stepped up measures to avert any security outbreak that might spill over or occur in his domain.
He expressed satisfaction with the performances of security operatives in his local government, commending them for their efforts in maintaining peaceful atmosphere in the rural communities across the LGA.
The chairman called on the people of the state to comply with the security directives to forestall unexpected disaster that may befall the state.
