The Executive Director of Allamin Foundation for Peace and Development , Hajiya Hamsatu Allamin, has said that the book launch of “Boko Halal” and setting up of peace vlubs in Islamic primary and secondary schools across Borno State will no doubt go a long way in demystifying Boko Haram ideology and extremism which have brought untold hardships to people in Borno and the north east at large for almost 12 years.
She added that the title of the book launch is ,” BOKO HALAL”, meaning education is allowed and not forbidden as misclaimed by the Boko Haram ideologists who coined education to be forbidden, stressed that the purpose of the book launch (Peace Manual) was to disabuse the minds of the young ones who are future leaders and redirect their thinking and focus in life to the right path.
Hajiya Hamsatu stated this Sunday at Darul Quran Islamic School Kwanan Yobe area Maiduguri during the public presentation of the Peace Manual and flag off of Peace Clubs in Islamic Schools.

She said the book , Boko Halal: Manual of Peace Education-Teaching Tolerance , Peace and Peaceful Co-existence and Running Peace Clubs in Islamic Schools, was published by Allamin Foundation for Peace and Development in partnership with Borno State Islamiyya Schools Association.
The book according to her, contained 10 chapters and 163 pages to demisify the words Boko Haram which emanated as a result of low level of education and illiteracy.

She noted that “the injuries are enormous among our youths innocently and if care is not taken on time, it may extend to other Islamic countries of the world ignorantly, pointing out that, “education is knowledge. Knowledge is civilization and Islam teaches and allows people to seek for knowledge any where without discrimination.”
Hajiya Hamsatu however disclosed that 20 Islamic schools from MMC and 10 schools from Jere LGA where 5 teachers were also selected and trained from each of the 20 schools. They are expected to also select 50 pupils and students from each of their schools to learn the teachings of the book.
The Foundation Board Chairman, Professor Mohammed Waziri, represented by Professor Abubakar Matarambe of University of Maiduguri, commended the Executive Director and described her as a great woman of substance and academic prowess while advising youths to go to school and acquire degree or higher education to enjoy their lives, stressing that, education is key to success in life.
The Borno State Commissioner of Religious Affairs, represented by Alh. Mohammed Mala commended the foundation for its initiative and successful publication of the book, while assuring that the book would be purchased in large quantity and made available to all students and pupils in both public and private schools across the state, due to its vital information, guidance and tutorial.
He also appreciated the efforts of the foundation in training some teachers to teach the book at their various schools for the purpose of establishing peace, understanding and unity as well as frameworks and network for knowledge among the pupils and students.
The Borno State Commissioner of Universal Basic Education(SUBEB), Dr. Shettima Bukar Kulluma, represented by the Senior Education Secretary, Maiduguri Metropolitan Council, Alh.Kaka Ari Abba while appreciating the efforts of the foundation, urged children as future leaders to be obedient and loyal to their parents, elders, teachers and constituted authorities in order to live a better life and be blessed.
He also noted that peace is vital in the society and without peace there would not be meaningful Development in the society, while cherishing the virtues of renowned educationists who left legacies for future generation on education in the North.
The Book Reviewer , Dr. Abba spoken extensively on the efforts and processes followed in compiling the book and consultations also made with experts and academicians in various fields of academic endeavours such as Quranic, Islamic, Hausa, English and Kanuri Languages as the book was published in three major languages for the general public consumption.
He announced also that the book contained 10 chapters and all the chapters extensively gave detailed explanations of its subject matter which centered on peace, unity, love for one another, tolerance, patience, understanding , girl child rights, education and significance of education as enshrined in Islam and preached by the Messenger of God, Prophet Mohammed SAW .
He called on the trained teachers to commit themselves seriously to the proper teachings of the book in manual which contained also teaching methodology and other guidance on how to pass the messages of peace and unity across to their pupils and students.
Dr. Abba noted that both Quran and Hadiths have spoken about knowledge and stressed the need to seek for knowledge which is education. As such education can not be forbidden or Haram but can be only be Halal.
He said Ali that the book contained teachers guide and teaching methodology and it is in three divisions of English, Hausa and Kanuri languages Allowances have been given to the teachers.
Items distributed to the 20 selected Islamic schools include 30 copies of the book launched (Peace Manual), 7 copies of Arabic version, English version, 7 Kanuri version, 3 Hausa version, 2 plastic buckets, 2 plastic stands, 2 wash hand basins, 4 hand sanitizers, 4 liquid sanitizers and 100 pieces of face masks
