Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed said his administration has developed a sound Small and Medium Enterprise scheme in partnership with the Bank of Industry (BoI) and other captains of industries for the empowerment of youth in the state.
He stated this while answering questions from journalists at the Government House, Bauchi on the celebration of the 2020 International Youth Day.
NATIONAL ACCORD reports that the theme for this year’s International Youth Day Celebration is “Youth Engagement for Global Action”.
Mohammed said that the state government is also set to massively engage the youth in SME programme in recognition of their outstanding contributions towards the growth and development of the state.
According to him, since the inception of his administration, he has taken a bold step to tackle youth restiveness and their involvement in criminal activities in order to safeguard their future.
He said: “Youth engagement and youth development is one of the cardinal principles of this administration under my leadership, we recognised the positive contributions of our youth to the growth and development of Bauchi state.
“We are indeed grateful to the youth and women who came and participated actively in our election.
“We came with manifesto for youth development for them to build up their economic wellbeing and to continue to participate in the growth and development of the state.”
He also said that the reforms introduced in education are part of the effort of the state government to provide youth with qualitative education to enable them become useful members of the society.
“As you are aware, my government is developing the education sector and we are now addressing the out of school phenomenon through reducing the teacher and student ratio,” he stated.
The Governor therefore reaffirmed the readiness of his administration to use youth and women as veritable tools to bring the desired change promised to the citizens of the state.
