A member representing Jema’a Constituency, Kaduna State House of Assembly, Mr. Ali Kalat, has paid the tuition fees of the Joint Admission and Enrollment Board (JAMB) of 60 students.
Speaking at the launch of the Ali Kalat education support program on Friday in Kafanchan, Kalat said the gesture was for the educational growth of his people.
According to him, education has not received the attention it deserves as a foundation for development in any society.
“The importance of education in the development process of our children and of society cannot be overstated”.
“Individual and societal development has eluded us because education as a learning process has not received the attention it deserves”.
“We need to agree that education improves our personal lives and helps make society run smoothly by instilling the right values”.
“In addition, I choose education as an area of interest because it allows the mind to conceive of positive ideas and to motivate it”.
“It is for this reason that I decided to put my weight behind these young people to make sure that their dreams and their aspiration for a better future are not scuttled,” he added.
He said the beneficiaries came from 20 schools in the local government area of Jema’a, just as he promised to keep an eye on their progress.
In his remarks, Council President Peter Averik praised the legislator for supporting the academic activities of his constituents.
Averik prayed to God to allow the member to do more for the people, while calling on other well-meaning individuals and organizations to follow suit.
Also speaking, Agwam Fantswam, Dr Josiah Kantiok, instructed beneficiaries to be more engaged and dedicated to their studies.
Some of the beneficiaries who spoke at the event were full of gratitude to the lawmaker whom they described as being sent by God.
The Nigerian News Agency (NAN) reports that one of the highlights of the occasion was the presentation of the JAMB exam cards to beneficiaries.
