Kwara State Governor, Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq has called on both Muslims and Christians in the state to continue to live in harmony which according to him is the only way to ensure sustainable development and all round progress.
He said this on Thursday at the Government House in Ilorin when the Emir of Ilorin Dr. Ibrahim Sulu Gambari paid him a visit to commemorate the sallah celebration.
The Governor Abdulrasaq, who commended traditional institutions in the state for their cooperation with the government and urged them to continue.
He, however, expressed regret for the government’s decision to cancel the durbar ceremony which was supposed to hold on Wednesday, saying that the government and individuals had invested in the annual ceremony.
In his address, the Emir who also doubles as the Chairman of the state’s traditional council commended the Governor for what he described as laudable achievements since he assumed office and prayed the almighty God to continue to guide him aright.
The Emir also called on the indigenes of Ilorin and the state in general to be law abiding and align with government programmes.
In his welcome address, Deputy Governor, Mr. Kayode Alabi urged residents and indigenes of the state to be law abiding and ensure tranquillity in the the state.
He assured the people of the state of the government’s determination to work assiduously for an improved standard of living.
