The Cross River State Labour Party has commenced membership drive and revalidation exercise in the Northern Senatorial District of Cross River State ahead of the expected byelection.
The State Chairman of Labour Party (LP), Ambassador Ogar Osim disclosed this in Ogoja during a Stakeholders meeting with party leaders.
Ambassador Ogar said the party was ready to capture the only vacant seat in the green chamber following the victory of Hon Jarigbe Agom who is now the Senator elect for Cross River North.
Amb. Osim who was in company with Comrade Etim Asuquo, The State Secretary, when the duo met with the entire Chapter and Wards Chairmen and Executive in Cross River North on Tuesday at Okuku, Yala Local Government Area.
“In view of the report by the Vice Chairman North, Mr. Eugene Oko, resolutions at the fruitful meeting include: commencement of registration and revalidation of members of which materials were presented to them, constitution of chapters and wards caretaker Committees, consultation with politicians within the area, planning for a rally in Yala on a later date which will witness the commissioning of Yala chapter Secretariat amongst other activities”
According to him, Labour Party is also gearing up to participate and win a possible byelection to fill in Yala/Ogoja Federal Constituency following the confirmation of Hon. Agom Jarigbe as Senator Representing Cross River North.
He said Labour Party is Cross River and Cross River is Labour Party.
