There was wailing and lamentations in Keffi LGA of Nasarawa State on Saturday’s afternoon, following the announcement of the results of Nasarawa West Senatorial primary election conducted by The All Progressive Congress (APC) in the state.
The results of the primary election showed that Mr. Tukur Shehu won with 179 votes to beat his close contender, Barrister Labaran Magaji, who polled 114 votes.
Announcing the results, the APC Returning Officer, Rtd. Brigadier General Tijani Jibril, said Mr. Tukur having polled the majority votes has been declared the winner of the election
It will be recalled that the Senatorial election which is the constituency of the National Chairman of the APC, Senator Abdulahi Adamu has been in the state of confusion for the past days. The primary election has been put off for three times.
Even though, Labaran Magaji, the contestant agreed with the results and congratulated Mr. Tukur, people of the zone broke out in tears, weeping profusely and blaming the APC National Chairman for shortchanging the list of the delegates.
A lady simply identified as Maryam, who could not control her emotions over what she described as broad daylight robbery of the people’s mandate, urged the leadership of the party to do the needful for the party in the state not to collapse.
The election which took place at the Nasarawa State University convocation ground was quiet like cemetery when the result was announced
Barrister Labaran Magaji, who late addressed his supporters at Golden Dabbis Hotel in Keffi LGA, advised them to remain calm and wait for the next line of action as he will widely consult on the next line of actions. .
