PATRICK ABANG, Calabar –
Cross River State Governor, Ben Ayade has reconstituted the Cross River State Electoral Commission(CROSIEC) ahead of next year Local Government election.
Governor Ayade in a memo by issued by The Attorney General and Honourable Commissioner for Justice, Tanko Ashang appointed Prof Mike Ushie as chairman with seven others as members of the commission.
A copy of the memo, which was sighted on Friday by our correspondent in Calabar, stated that “the reconstitution of the commission is to commence activities leading to the 2023 local government elections.
It also stated that Mr. Ekuri Bassey Ogar would serve as the secretary of the commission.
Other members of the commission are – Matthew Ucheche, Joe Nnandi Esom, Yakmoendoho Yakmoendoho,Medea Ajah Inyang,Ndoma Bassey Ndoma and Ekuri Bassey Ogar.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Commission, Dr. Mike Ushie in his reaction to the appointment, declared his commitment to work hard for the success of the forth coming local government elections.
“Being part of the reconstituted committee is another privilege to render a developmental service to Cross Riverians as elections are a determinant of the peoples welfare and only proper and circumspect scrutiny of credible candidates for chairmanship and councilorship positions can lead to the needed development”.
He promised to conduct a free, fair and credible 2023 Local Government elections that will birth a new productive and people benefiting local government councils.
