PATRICK ABANG, Calabar –
Calabar Canaan City Lions Club has said that the club would embarked on the construction of e-Library at the state Library Complex Calabar.
President of the Lions Club, Effiwatt, Ekpenyong Bassey disclosed this in an interview with our correspondent during his investiture ceremony as the Board of Directors for 2021/2022 Service year.
He said that the e-Library will be equipped with 150 computer lab-tops and will be installed with internet facilities to enhance learning and research.
The president, further, said that the legacy project was 80% nearing completion and would run into million of naira when completed.
“The project will be handed over to the state when completed to manage. We feel that it would be one of the best thing in the state and would promote research and the youths will explore the internet world, puts them off the street to better the society”.
“We solicit your support to raise funds towards the completion. The e-Library shall be of immense succor to the youth and scholars in the state”.
Earlier, the outgoing president, Lion Nnaemeka Victor Ohaeri, said that the club in 2020/2021, embarked on many projects that had great impact on the lives of the less privileged within the community.
He also said that there was screening and awareness campaign on eye test and contract/glaucoma surgeries.
According to the president, the club undertook several humanitarian endevour through Feeding The Hunger Project at various motherless baby home and celebration of the International Women Day through donation of sanitary towels to young pupils at Wapi Secondary School Calabar.
The Chairman of the occasion, Etubom (Arc) Bassey Ndem, who declared the occasion open, pleaded with members to always keep to time in attending functions.
