Imam Dawud Yahya has admonished Muslim faithfuls, and indeed all Nigerians, to heed the day of reckoning by ensuring they lived up to the responsibilities assigned to them either in their public, private or personal lives.Yahya gave the admonition in his sermon, during Friday prayers at the Jama’atu Izalatil Bidi’ah Wa Ikamatus Sunnah (JIBWIS) Central Mosque, Keffi, Nasarawa state,
He said that living up to expectations by upholding the public trust justly and responsibly would not only qualify the person as a true believer of God, but would also help him to earn the confidence of his fellow human beings.
The Iman frowned at the attitude of most public office holders, who regarded their positions as an opportunity to steal public funds entrusted to them, admonishing them to turn over a new leaf as they will held accountable by the Almighty either in this world or the hereafter.
“Every person, either in his or her private capacity, is entrusted with one form of trust or the other, as such the need to justify the confidence reposed on him becomes highly imperative and desirable “he said.
Yahya, who contended that the strict fulfilment of public trust would be the surest way towards building a just and egalitarian society, for the benefit of all and sundry, tasked Muslims and Nigerians in general to always be guided by the imperative of upholding public trust assigned to them.
He used the occasion to pray for the peace, unity, security and prosperity of the nation and God’s guidance to the leaders and the led, while urging Nigerians to be God fearing, patriotic and committed, to all actions that would make the country great. (NAN)
