“Life is only a reflection of what we allow ourselves to see and be.” – Trudy Symeonakis Vesotsky
Beliefs are a part of life. Without them we would be missing a very important faculty of the mind, which is thought and/or ability to reason and ascribe intentions to intangible and tangible things. And beliefs are generally very subjective. Well, the dictionary defines belief as an acceptance that something exists or is true, especially one without proof; trust, faith, or confidence in (someone or something).
It also says a belief is a firm thought that something is true, often based on revelation. The word is also used to describe what a person expects will happen based on limited information. In addition, belief is trust, faith, or confidence in someone or something.
In all these definitions of belief, there is a single thread across them all. And that is the use of your mind. Your faculty of reasoning, and even believing without reason is deeply rooted in the free will and freedom to choose which our creator bestowed on us.
So, from these definitions, do you agree that you have a belief or that you have formed a belief about every single person, thing, or situation in your life? Does this not excite you that you indeed have this ability – this power? Well, as we go along, perhaps you will see why it should excite you or at least grab your attention. Let’s look at some common examples of belief.
Some Examples of Belief
Some of us believe in God the Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit – three persons in one God. We do not see them, but we believe this God exists.
When your prophet or prophetess tells you something based on revelation, you’re stuck with a belief! The belief even begins to condition your thinking and maybe your actions in certain circumstances or even towards certain persons.
Sometimes it is believed that the twitching of the eyes of the right eye makes one feel good as if something good is coming. The twitching of the left eye makes one worried as if something bad will happen. This is based on the belief this person has.
You believe that this person you are dating is your future husband. Even with all the signs that you will go hungry, or you will suffer domestic violence, or you will not be allowed to blossom, you still have confidence that a marriage with this person will work. Well, that too is a belief.
Check Your Beliefs
It is said that any life worth living is worth reflecting upon. It is important to take time to reflect on your beliefs and see how they are influencing your life positively or negatively. It is a great gift that with the use of your mind, you can form any belief about anything you so wish. But then, what kind of beliefs are you forming around the things and people in your life?
What kind of beliefs do you have or have you formed about yourself and your life? What kind of beliefs do you nurse that have become hindrances to your peace and joy, and to your progress in life? I have always believed that if my mind can conceive any idea, then I can achieve it. This too is a belief.
Choose to nurture beliefs that work positively for you.
